Destiny Discovery Quest: Your Passport into the Life Focus Journey

Life Focus is a process designed to help people 1. develop an understanding of their life purpose and 2. work toward achieving it through goal-setting. In the process, participants explore dreams and dreambusters, create a set of personal values, and "unpack" convergence experiences.

People from all walks of life have benefited from this process and are now living more intentional, meaningful, Kingdom-focused lives because of Life Focus. In the Life Focus process, participants unearth indicators which point to their ‘God-given’ purpose by examining and assembling clues from various sources and different areas of life (i.e. work, ministry, family, recreation, etc).

When the step-by-step "research" process is combined with big-picture explanations and practical steps for implementation, new connections are made; vision is clarified and new life focus emerges. The Life Focus process is used in universities, churches and organizations across the country and around the world. Doug and Charlene Fike developed the Life Focus process over a decade ago and have taught it in a variety of forms and contexts since then. Transformational Leadership Coaching offers a Life Focus track as part of their intensive coach training system.

Life Focus is also available to organizations in a five event package called Destiny Discovery Quest. The five events of Destiny Discovery Quest are:

1. “Life-Purpose Inventory: Embracing God’s Design”
2. “Born to Dream: The Disciplined Art of “What if…?’”
3. “Assembling the Clues: Discerning Your Life Purpose”
4. “Securing the Plumbline: Living by Your Values”
5. “On-purpose Living: Charting Your Course”

The first two events are “taste & see” workshops that are open to anyone wanting to explore the Life Focus process. Events 3 through 5 build on earlier processes and are therefore only open to participants who have attended all previous events. To fully experience the life-changing benefits, attending all 5 events is strongly recommended.

Destiny Discovery Quest is purposefully designed in a “seminar plus” model. "Seminar" refers to the 5 events, but the real advantage comes with the “plus!” With each seminar, optional follow-up “life coaching” is available. The insights and transformation participants receive from the Life Focus process will be compounded exponentially when a trained Life Focus Coach works with them on a one-on-one basis! This level of personal interaction leads participants to even more “ah-ha” moments and discoveries about their unique design. Participants taking advantage of the "plus" option are also given extra Life Focus exercises to further and deepen life purpose findings.

GDI works with host organizations to execute effective Destiny Discovery Quest events. Depending which package is chosen, instruction is provided by TLC-certified trainers, GDI staff or the Life Focus designers themselves. While each organization works with GDI to schedule Destiny Discovery Quest events in a way that works for them, planning the five events within a year is optimal. This provides enough space between events for the material to sink in, but keeps things moving fast enough that the process doesn't lose momentum.
